Sometimes it seems like weight loss is beyond what we think we can do. So many people start off with a great attitude and a fully motivated spirit, but then give up after just a few workouts. What things make it easy for some people to lose weight and keep it off? What is their secret to success?
Once you’ve made the commitment to lose weight, you need to set a goal. Are you looking to shed lots of pounds, or do you just want to reclaim clothing that has not been worn for many years? Is it that you want to be healthier and feel fitter? Setting goals gives you a solid point in the future to look forward to. Without set goals, you will be less likely to stay with your weight loss program.
Make sure to log your progress on a weekly basis. Be sure to weigh yourself weekly and create a journal. Keep a food log in the journal of everything you consume each day. Writing down what you are eating will help you remember to make healthier choices.
When you are hungry you make bad choices. Keep some healthy snacks around in case you get famished. This will help to prevent you from making unhealthy decisions, such as going through the drive-thru at a fast food restaurant. Organize your meals in advance and don’t forget to bring your own lunch. Bringing your lunch will save you a lot of money.
If losing weight is really important to you, then you need to focus on both diet and activity. Plan a workout routine that is certain to keep your motivation level high by selecting a particular activity you love. There are many activities that you can choose from, such as dance classes, joining a sports league, talking walks with friends or joining a running club. Use your imagination, and it won’t be hard to come up with ways you can get a little more exercise in your daily life.
Take all the junk food out of your kitchen. Having only good foods around like veggies and fruits will help reduce some of the temptation. Once you have gotten rid of all the unhealthy foods from your home, then they aren’t readily available as a temptation for you to snack on.
Ask your friends to give you support. Of course, you must lose the weight for yourself, but still, it’s nice to have a cheering section to keep you going. Be sure to have a good circle of supportive friends to call on when you are down and discouraged. Friends can help you while you are trying to lose weight.
